Last Cadillac DTS rolls off the assembly line
by Michel Deslauriers / Auto123.com
This week, the staff at the Detroit/Hamtramck plant bid farewell to one of the models they’ve been producing for quite a few years. The Cadillac DTS sedan, which has been on sale since 2006 and replaced the DeVille, has rolled off the assembly line for the last time.

The final DTS, painted black, has been purchased by Nicola Bulgari, vice-chairman of the Bulgari company that sells high-end jewelry, watches, perfume as well as leather and fashion accessories. The car will join sixteen other Cadillacs in Bulgari’s collection, from a 1932 355B V12 Fleetwood Limousine right up to a 2009 CTS-V and a 2010 CTS Sport Wagon.

Retirement of the DTS will make way for an eventual replacement, the XTS sedan, while the Buick Lucerne’s production has also ended, at least for this year. The Detroit/Hamtramck plant also assembles the Chevrolet Volt, and after a period of retooling, it will soon start building the Opel Ampera (Volt clone for Europe) as well as the new generations of the Malibu and Impala sedans.
