2012 Cadillac SRX to get 3.6-litre V6 engine

Earlier this year, we announced that the Cadillac SRX crossover would lose its turbocharged 2.8-litre engine. Another change will take place for the 2012 model year, as the SRX will inherit the company’s 3.6-litre V6.
Replacing both available engines currently offered in the 2011 edition, including the 265-hp, 3.0-litre V6, the direct-injected 3.6 will produce 300 horses and 260 pound-feet of torque.

The outgoing 2.8T served up 295 lb-ft of torque from just 2,000 rpm, so expect a slight drop in straight-line performance with the 3.6L unit. On the other hand, premium fuel will no longer be required.
Other changes to the 2012 model includes a heated steering wheel in uplevel trims, power lock switches added to the front doors and new 20-inch alloys.
The new SRX will be available in late summer.
